Get pre-approval for a wig
To get a medical wig, you should first get a prescription from your doctor. Make sure the Rx says “Medical Hair Prosthesis” or “Cranial Prosthesis”, not a wig. Also procedure codes A9282 and 99199 are the most commonly used. We will help you get pre-authorization from your insurance company. All we need is a picture of your desired hair and the prescription – sent via email so you never have to leave your home or hospital. In-hospital consultations are available in Manhattan. Getting a wig
Once you get approved, you can purchse a premium from Andrew DiSimone Wigs at a reduced price. We volunteer weekly cutting and styling wigs at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in NYC and sponsor FreeWigsforKids.org. Through these organizations, we can help you get a free wig. We will also cut and style your free wig at no cost whatsoever.
Donate used wigs
When you are done with your wig, we ask that you donate it to FreeWigsforKids.org. The hair will be cleaned and reused for someone in need.
